The tension is palpable, the excitement is mounting and the heady scent of competition is in the air as hundreds of eager contestants from across America prepare to take part in what is undoubtedly one of the greatest events of their lives — the Mayflower Dog Show.The canine contestants and their owners are as wondrously diverse as the great country that has bred them. There is Harlan Pepper (CHRISTOPHER GUEST), a fly-fishing shop owner from Pine Nut, North Carolina, who hopes that his Bloodhound, Hubert, may be the first of his kind to win top prize at the show.

In their upscale Illinois home, yuppie lawyers Meg (PARKER POSEY) and Hamilton Swan (MICHAEL HITCHCOCK) anxiously ready themselves and their somewhat neurotic Weimaraner, Beatrice, for the big event.

Meanwhile, in Fern City, Florida, mild-mannered menswear salesman Gerry Fleck (EUGENE LEVY) and his vivacious wife, Cookie (CATHERINE O’HARA), happily prepare their Norwich Terrier, Winky, for the most important show of his competitive career.In New York, professional handler Scott Donlan (JOHN MICHAEL HIGGINS) and his longtime partner, hair salon owner Stefan Vanderhoof (MICHAEL McKEAN), happily anticipate the event as they feel that one of their Shih Tzus, Miss Agnes, stands a very good chance of winning the cup.

Although the fabulously wealthy and elderly Leslie Ward Cabot (PATRICK CRANSHAW) and his voluptuous young wife, Sherri Ann Cabot (JENNIFER COOLIDGE), are confident that their two-time champion Standard Poodle, Rhapsody In White, will keep the crown, they aren’t taking any chances and have hired ace handler Christy Cummings (JANE LYNCH) to assure their win.

At the Mayflower Dog Show, everything is being organized with the utmost precision under the watchful eye of Mayflower Kennel Club President Dr. Theodore W. Millbank III (BOB BALABAN) and the show’s chairman, Graham Chissolm (DON LAKE). Trevor Beckwith (JIM PIDDOCK) and Buck Laughlin (FRED WILLARD) are the Mayflower dog show commentators.

Finally, the hundreds of contestants come together under one giant roof, the audience throngs the massive arena and the competition begins in earnest as television cameras bring the wonderful world of dogs to millions.

When business partners Thomas Johnson and Jeff Newman decide to drag race, their foolish competition comes to a tragic end when Thomas dies in a car accident. However, Thomas curiously awakens not in heaven, but as a mixed-breed puppy on Earth. After being renamed Fluke, the reincarnated Thomas paws the city looking for affection — especially from his former wife and child who see him as nothing more than a dirty pooch.

Wallace & Gromit in The Wrong Trousers

This movie is an Animated Short movie. For Gromit’s birthday, Wallace purchases a pair of “techno trousers,” a mechanized set of legs that can take Gromit out for his daily walk. However, the expensive gift nearly bankrupts Wallace, and he is forced to take in a boarder to pay the bills. Enter a mysterious penguin, who wins Wallace’s affection and drives poor Gromit literally to the dog house. Unfortunately, Gromit runs away just when Wallace needs him the most. Stuck in the techno trousers, Wallace becomes an unwitting accomplice in a daring museum robbery. Park has said that he wanted his second Wallace and Gromit short to be much more “overtly cinematic” than his previous work. Deep shadows contribute to the film’s noir-like feel, while the score recalls the works of Bernard Hermann. The plot spoofs various B-movie staples–the mysterious roommate in films like POISON IVY, complicated heists as in THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, and technology-gone-haywire in horror films like FRANKENSTEIN. THE WRONG TROUSERS ends with a fantastic shoot-out on a speeding model train set, which was animated with the help of Peter Lord, co-founder of Aardman Animation.

The ever-ravenous duo, determined to prove they’re great detectives, don a series of far-out disguises in their search for clues. All signs point to Jeremiah “Old Man” Wickles (PETER BOYLE), the former Black Knight Ghost who was once unmasked by the gang and thrown in jail. Did the creepy wannabe launch the monstrous attack on Coolsville in a diabolical quest for revenge? In this live action rethink of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, director Raja Gosnell puts Fred (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (FREAKS & GEEKS’ Linda Cardellini), and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) back into the Mystery Machine with a CGI version of the canine title character. After parting ways to protest Fred’s self-centered treatment of the Mystery Inc. gang, they are brought back together by Emile Mondavarious (Rowan Atkinson) to help solve a ghoulish mystery at his teen resort and fun park, Spooky Island. Although SCOOBY-DOO is primarily a live action movie, Gosnell keeps the characters and visuals cartoonish at all times. For fans of the series, all of the expected trappings are present (from Fred’s ascot to the inevitable “meddling kids” line from the bad guy), but the film also pokes fun at these elements throughout, managing to balance kiddie fun with a more grown-up self-mocking. The CGI Scooby is both convincingly lifelike and clearly make-believe, with action that is more silly than scary so kids and adults can enjoy the film together.

Soccer Dog: The Movie

In the spirit of canine classics like LASSIE, RIN TIN TIN, BENJI, and AIR BUD, comes this story of an amazingly agile soccer-playing, day-saving dog named Lincoln. When young orphan Clay comes to terms with his new life in the surprisingly competitive little town of Crocker, he inadvertently disappoints his father with his lack of athletic interest, but joins the soccer team anyway. The stray dog he takes in shows an unusual interest in the game as well, which becomes very useful when one of the team’s star players is unable to play in an important game.
